Obiettivi formativi

Educational goals

The teaching, in its first part, aims to draw a historical overview of the main authors who gave life to the history of pedagogy between the eighteenth and nineteenth century, from Jean-Jacques Rousseau to Ferrante Aporti. The second in-depth analysis will focus on the history of children's literature from the nineteenth century to present days, with in-depth analysis of subjects, genres (adventurous, training, history, fantasy) and particularly significant writers at national and international level. Particular attention will be paid to the press for children, comics, toys, films, songs and television programs for children.

The teaching helps to achieve the educational target of the degree course in Primary Education by providing students with a historical background on which they can develop their future professional activity and, in the most proper part related to children's literature, giving to future teachers the foundations for choosing the readings most suited to the developmental age in an autonomous and critical way, modulating them on different age groups.

Overall, the teaching aims to highlight how educational and cultural lines still used today in educational practice can be identified from the past.

Programma

Program

The teaching is divided into two modules.

The first aims to convey to students the pedagogical and educational proposals of the main authors of the history of education, making them reflect on the relationship between these theories and the historical context in which they were formulated, from the eighteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century. Attention will then be paid to particular educational experiences linked to the Turin area between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The second module, instead, will focus on the history of children's literature in Italy and its authors from Collodi (Le Avventure di Pinocchio) and De Amicis (Cuore) to contemporary writers such as Gianni Rodari. There will also be brief mention to international children's literature from Beatrix Potter (Peter The Rabbit) and Louisa May Alcott (Little Women) to J.K. Rowling (The Harry Potter saga).

Particular attention will then be given to primer syllabar, publications and magazines for children and youth from the nineteenth century to the seventies of the twentieth century, but a source like toys, films and songs too.
